There’s just something about Butte, Montana.

The historic Hotel Finlen in the Mining City of Butte played host to a wedding that was nothing short of magical and memorable. Bride Jessica was a Butte native who couldn’t wait to escape her hometown, but over the years realized how much it meant to her – the family, the upbringing, the memories.

This return, for her wedding no less, was a special kind of homecoming.

For those not familiar, Butte, Montana, isn’t just a place; it's a living testament to the rich mining history and the resilient spirit of the locals. As a wedding filmmaker, I had the privilege of capturing the love story of Jessica and Emery in a town that had seen its fair share of triumphs and challenges. The town's proud mining history runs deep, and its community spirit is unwavering. Jessica's choice to celebrate her special day here was a testament to the deep connection she has with her roots, her family, and her home.

Jessica, who first moved to Alaska and now resides in Texas, cherished the opportunity to return to her hometown for her wedding day. She spoke from the heart, saying, "This is the closest event that I have had to the special family get-togethers that we had while I was growing up. You guys are all so special to me, and I love you very much." Her words resonated with everyone present, reinforcing the tight-knit bonds of the community and the love that emanated from every guest.

The historic Hotel Finlen provided the perfect setting for this memorable occasion, with its timeless elegance reflecting the enduring spirit of Butte itself. Making this celebration even more special was the fact that Jessica’s grandparents had been wed in the same hotel, celebrating their bond just a few rooms down. Jessica had photographs from her grandparents’ wedding day, and we were able to emulate those photos in the same room their reception was held decades earlier.

As the wedding videographer, I was deeply moved by the love that filled the air, and it was clear that Jessica and Emery's special day was more than just a wedding; it was a celebration of heritage, love, and the enduring sense of pride that comes from calling Butte home.

Oh, and we can’t forget about the Jäger, which is something else that bonds these two 😉.
